Margaret is 56 years old. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1997. Initially just the lump was removed… and following that operation it was decided that a further area should be removed. Eventually she was referred to Christie hospital. She was given a full mastectomy with immediate reconstruction at withington hospital. Margaret’s reconstruction was performed using the muscle from her back. This was rotated round and brought forward. A series of small procedures followed which led to the reconstruction of the nipple. Margaret is currently fit and well. She didn’t need radiotherapy or chemotherapy and is still on annual surveillance.
