Danielle is 23 years old. She underwent a bilateral double mastectomy under Joe Donaghue from the RVI in Newcastle. Danielle has vivid memories of her mother's treatment for the disease and recently watched her grandmother succumb to it. A breast scare herself prompted Danielle to undergo the genetic test and thus opt for surgery. Danielle says having the opportunity to speak with others is a crucial part of the decision making process. Only those who have faced these decisions themselves can understand the isolation felt by those going through the whole process.
